Developing Leadership Skills 1
This course helps managers at all levels to consider the required skills to be effective leaders who can drive change and continuous improvement within the organisation. The course content helps them to understand managers’ roles and responsibilities whilst recognising the difference between Leadership and Management. It also considers how to communicate effectively as a leader.
Key benefit for employers: Managers develop the skills that are essential for them to communicate as leaders and recognise the motivational factors they and their team need. The course introduces the Situational Leadership Model to generate discussions around the importance and impact of feedback and demonstrates how this allows their teams to grow and be more effective within the organisation.
Developing Leadership Skills 2
This course follows on from Developing Leadership Skills 1 by enhancing leadership skills, while considering the challenges and opportunities affecting individuals as leaders in their business right now. The content helps them to understand, and have an awareness of, leadership capabilities and the benefits this brings to the business, their team members and the customers they serve.
Key benefit for employers: Managers develop their leadership capabilities to a higher level, including how to consider leader behaviour, delegation and feedback. It demonstrates how leaders can effectively manage change within their teams, and define teambuilding skills that enhance individuals, the team, and business performance.
New To Management
This introductory course is designed for new managers to support them through the transition from their current roles into management roles. The content helps them to understand what their new level of responsibility entails and the benefits great managers bring to the business, their team members, and the customers they serve.
Key benefit for employers: New managers develop the skills and behaviours that are essential for them to work effectively in their new role, while understanding how their contribution affects all stakeholders within, and outside, the company / organisation they work for.
Selection & Interviewing
This course provides managers at all levels with the essential skills to successfully conduct selection interviews and make informed decisions regarding recruitment and promotion (in line with ACAS advice and guidance), while understanding the implications regarding employment law.
Key benefit for employers: Managers who have the ability to interview and select the right candidates are able to recruit individuals with the abilities and attitudes to ensure the company / organisation achieves recruiting objectives, maintains morale within teams, and protects the business against the financial implications of employing the wrong candidate.
This course helps managers at all levels to understand the process and benefits of managing performance improvement. The content helps managers understand the difference between performance improvement versus disciplinary procedure, and demonstrates why identifying issues and using timely interventions impacts positively (by using the process to allow employees to explain their side and make improvements).
Key benefit for employers: Managers build their communication skills and understand that, by taking positive steps and supporting employees, they can help individuals improve through training, guidance and coaching (helping the business to achieve its goals and objectives).
This course helps managers at all levels to understand how sickness absence is managed in accordance with the company’s processes, policies and procedures. The content helps them to understand why sickness absence needs to be managed, and the responsibilities of managers and employees during the process (including allowing employees to explain their side and make improvements).
Key benefit for employers: Managers build the necessary communication skills to understand the importance of managing sickness absence; by taking positive steps and providing support to reduce absence levels (and the potential impact on the company / organisation).
This course helps managers at all levels to understand the process for managing disciplinary issues. The content demonstrates why disciplinary issues need to be managed, how to conduct fair and effective investigations, how to differentiate between misconduct and gross misconduct, and understand informal and formal stages. It considers the importance of informing employees about specific problems and allowing them the opportunity to put their case forward.
Key benefit for employers: Managers build the necessary communication skills and understand the purpose of applying correct procedures when challenging unacceptable behaviours. This helps them to make informed decisions in line with ACAS advice and guidelines and reduce the risk and potential costs to the business of unfair dismissal / discrimination claims through Employment Tribunals.
Conflict Management For Managers
This course helps managers at all levels to develop the skills and confidence to deal with conflict situations in the workplace. It focuses on handling, supporting and managing people, the processes involved with workplace conflicts, understanding what peoples’ responsibilities are, and what the law requires (including the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974).
Key benefit for employers: Managers are able to apply their new skills to resolve conflicts more quickly, to reduce the risk of conflicts escalating into more difficult situations, to review and enhance existing processes in the workplace, and protect the interests of the business.
