Developing people is a fundamental part of helping individuals and teams to contribute towards a company’s vision, growth and success.
The General Courses I deliver enhance and add to the skillset most staff require, in order to be more effective in the workplace. They are designed to benefit employees from all levels and can be adapted to be more relevant for specific team members, e.g. operational and administrative staff, team leaders / supervisors, junior managers, senior managers, etc.
These deal with workplace skills, such as solving problems and making decisions, influencing others, as well as how to present, and how to improve individuals’ skillsets to achieve promotion.
To help you decide which courses may be of benefit to your company or organisation please see brief descriptions for each course below. All courses can be adapted for the specific needs and objectives of your company / organisation (for more details on this please scroll to the end of this page):
Solving Problems & Making Decisions
This course helps staff make sound business decisions by understanding the stages and factors involved in assessing and resolving different types of problems. Delegates initially learn how to gather, collate and analyse information to identify the root causes of problems; then move on to assess the options available and determine which is most likely to achieve the desired result. Delegates are also shown the importance of planning, monitoring and reviewing the implementation of the decision, and how to communicate it to others.
Key benefit for employers: Staff develop a comprehensive understanding of the processes and tools used to resolve problems efficiently and effectively, so decisions and outcomes are achieved in a timely manner to the benefit of stakeholders.
Influencing With Style
This course helps staff to understand and consider the influential skills and behaviours needed in the workplace. It focuses on how to negotiate, influence and persuade others in their business right now. Delegates are encouraged to become more aware of their own leadership style and when to adapt it, if circumstances require this.
Key benefit for employers: Staff develop the key interpersonal skills and behaviours required to gain support, inspire others, create relationships and handle objections, in order to influence individuals at different levels, within and outside of the company / organisation they work for.
Presenting With Impact
This course helps staff to improve their presentation skills. Delegates learn the benefit of planning and how to design, practice and deliver interesting, informative and meaningful presentations. The content focuses on meeting the audiences’ needs and delegates provide a short presentation as the conclusion to the course (to help them assess the level of improvement and understand how the process improves self-confidence when presenting).
Key benefit for employers: Staff are able to plan, collate and deliver better presentations to gain and hold the interest of any size of audience. This helps to raise their profile (and that of the business) amongst their peers and when dealing with existing or prospective customers.
Get That Job
This course helps staff build their knowledge and skills to improve confidence in the whole of the recruitment and selection process to “Get that Job”. The content helps them understand what is expected throughout the recruitment process, e.g. how to undertake research, identify transferrable skills, the importance of preparing a good CV / application form, and what to include in any linked presentations, assessments and interviews.
Key benefit for employers: When staff understand how to prepare for career progression by demonstrating appropriate skills and behaviours, employers can quickly and easily identify the best internal candidates for positions (and reduce the necessity of more costly forms of external recruiting by promoting deserving staff).
